Overview

A hybrid between a skull crusher and a close-grip bench press invented by JM Blakley. Extremely effective tricep mass builder that allows heavier loads than a skull crusher while keeping a stretch-focused movement.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1

    Lie on a bench holding a barbell with a narrow grip.

  2. 2

    Lower the bar toward your chin / throat — elbows flare slightly forward.

  3. 3

    The bar passes the face at an angle, not straight down.

  4. 4

    Extend back to lockout.

  • Combines the best of skull crushers and close-grip bench press

  • Heavier loads possible than with skull crushers alone

  • Excellent for powerlifting tricep development

Form Tips

  • Learn the movement with an empty bar first

  • If uncomfortable in the wrists, use an EZ-bar
